Who We Are

We are a local non profit that was founded in 1983 by Dr Charles and Peggy MacCarthy.

The mission of Good News Project is to facilitate meaningful service opportunities at home & abroad.

What We Do

Good News organizes two week long service trips to three islands in the West Indies: St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Dominica. Volunteers pay their own airfare and living expenses in order to help people in a developing country. Activities include small home construction, teaching in the schools, institutional development, long term development and medical clinics.

Locally, Good News facilitates an electronics recycling program. Customers pay 40 cents per pound to bring in their electronics and are assured that their items are recycled responsibly and confidentially.

Good News also manages a local lending closet of medical items such as electric hospital beds, walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs, crutches, commodes and much more. Short term loans (6 mos or less) are given, with renewals available and a donation requested.

The organization is funded mostly by the generosity of individuals and a few grants. There are three full time employees and many donors and volunteers that make our programming possible.
