Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Northcentral Wisconsin
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northcentral Wisconsin (BBBSNCW) has been supporting at risk youth in Northcentral Wisconsin since 1976. Our mission is to empower our next generation through life-changing, high impact, one-to-one youth mentoring. We strive to help youth reach their full potential through professionally supported mentoring that provides measurable impact.
Big Brothers Big Sisters offers participation in either Community or School Based Mentoring Programs. Mentoring involves positive interaction between an adult role model and at-risk youth aged 6 to 15 with interaction occurring in the community during the evening or weekend, or within a school setting before, during or after school. The focus of a mentoring relationship may be academic but may also be social or behavioral with activities ranging from assisting with homework, playing a favorite board game, fishing, sharing thoughts and feelings, baking, watching a classic movie or any array of activities where interests are shared. While mentoring is fun, the focus also needs to be outcome based, which involves positive asset development for at risk youth in mentoring relationships. The developmental asset areas, which Big Brothers Big Sisters focuses on includes Confidence, Competence and Caring.
