Wausau and Marathon Co Parks, Recreation & Forestry

Our mission is to provide diversified park and recreation facilities and programs that meet the needs of present and future residents and to preserve and enhance important natural, historical, and scenic features within the City of Wausau.

We are a joint city-county department providing services and programs that include parks, urban forestry, pools, playgrounds, sports facilities, tennis & soccer camps, volunteer opportunities, special events, snow tubing, ice rinks, trails for cross country skiing, snowmobiling, snow shoeing and mountain biking. We also have campgrounds, a shooting range, and a county forest land management program. We assist local sports leagues in coordinating use of city and county facilities.
