Wausau River District

Wausau River District is a 501(C)3 non-profit Main Street America program whose purpose is to promote and facilitate the economic vitality and historic preservation of downtown Wausau for the benefit of the entire community.

Wausau River District operates on the Main Street America program principles of Design (focus on the physical space and historic preservation of the district), Economic Development (develop local business economy), Promotion (promoting and marketing the businesses in the district), and Organization (promoting the Wausau River District organization and the work we do). This wholistic, comprehensive approach to economic revitalization of historic downtown districts is what the Main Street America program is known for. We accomplish these objectives through a variety of programming to the community, and programs available directly and only to River District business owners.
