Volunteer Needs From: United Way of Marathon County

Volunteer at this summertime weekly event by keeping track of market attendance and distributing educational materials and recipe cards.

The Rehab Unit provides specialized medical care that focuses on providing care that supports and fosters patients regaining independence.

You can greatly enhance the lives of these patients by visiting them when they don't have family there, reading to them, playing cards, etc.

You may also assist with tidying up, checking supply stocks, office work as requested, etc.

Help your elderly and special needs community neighbors remain in their homes.

Volunteers go into the homes of the elderly and disabled throughout Marathon County to change out batteries and personal help buttons for Lifeline subscribers. Must have a valid drivers license. Training provided.

Volunteer in the Day Surgery waiting room. Help convey patient status to waiting family members. Act as liaison between doctors, staff members, and those waiting. Keep track of family member(s) and locate them when needed. Escort family members to conference rooms or education room to meet with doctor or view video. Assist staff with clerical projects as requested. 

Provide an adjunct therapy activity for patients who would like additional social or emotional stimulation. Visit with patients, guests, and staff. Pets must be certified through an American Kennel Club accrediting agency.

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is looking for compassionate individuals to help brighten the day of patients and guests.

Patient Support Volunteers play a vital role by delivering flowers, mail, and donated comfort items to patients and guests. They also assist patients and visitors with wayfinding and support hospital departments with mailings and special projects.

This is one of the many ways you can contribute to the community while creating a positive experience for those in need.

Shifts available are: Monday and Thursday mornings, Wednesday afternoons, or anytime on Fridays.

Greet visitors and families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). General duties including filing, tidying family kitchen area, stock/clean refrigerator as needed, decorate baby signs, fold baby items, etc.

Greet and assist visitors in the Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU). Assist visitors locating patient rooms, rest room or cafeteria. Answer telephone and help with small clerical tasks as requested.

Help your elderly and special needs community neighbors remain in their homes by installing Lifeline equipment in subscriber residence. Volunteers go into the homes throughout Marathon County to install and show the subscriber how to use their personal help button and Lifeline unit. They also provide replacement batteries for personal help buttons and units in subscriber homes, as well as general troubleshooting. Must possess a valid WI drivers license. Training provided.

Make a difference by volunteering in the Aspirus Heart Institute waiting room!

Help update families on patient status, assist with projects, and guide family members to conference rooms to meet with doctor.

Your support will provide comfort and help during critical family moments.

Join the Aspirus Volunteer team and help keep things running smoothly during the busy lunch time at the hospital cafeteria. Volunteers play a vital role in helping keep the salad bar and soup bar stocked and ready to serve. Additionally, restocking silverware, condiments, and napkins, and wiping down tables are also key to a pleasant dining experience. We'd love to welcome you to our team! 

Assistance is needed 11am to 1pm.

You can greatly help our patients by making handmade items. We continue to need *Pocket Prayer Shawls*, Prayer Shawls, Twiddle Muffs, and always stuffed animals (must be homemade or new with tags). Also, veteran-themed lap blankets for our hospice veterans. Patterns are available upon request.

As an EZ Rider driver, you'll operate a golf cart-style vehicle specially designed to help our patients and visitors navigate the hospital. This unique opportunity helps support patients navigating cancer treatment at the Aspirus Regional Cancer Center.

Volunteers assist cancer patients with access to and education on wigs, turbans, and scarves, helping them feel confident and cared for during their health journey.

A compassionate approach to working with cancer patients is needed. Training provided.

Our volunteers find this opportunity to be deeply impactful and fulfilling.

Providing emotional support and comfort to patients during their hospital stay can make a significant difference in their well-being. For Catholic patients, receiving Holy Communion can offer peace and strength, especially when facing health challenges.

Volunteers are needed to help bring this support to Catholic patients.

Must be appointed by the Catholic Church as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

Orientation will be provided. The time commitment is small but impactful.

The Aspirus Coffee Shop is powered by dedicated baristas who bring warmth and energy to every cup served. We need your help to make the experience even better.

Volunteers play a vital role by greeting customers, taking orders, processing sales, and assisting with general shop duties. Plus, if you wish, you can have the opportunity to learn the art of crafting the delicious beverages.

All proceeds from the Aspirus Coffee Shop directly support Aspirus Volunteer programs and essential services for patients and families. Join us and make a meaningful impact, one cup at a time.

The Aspirus Family House is a beautiful, modern, home-like facility that provides temporary housing for patients traveling for long-term outpatient specialty care, as well as for families coming a long distance to be near their loved one who's hospitalized. The house eases the financial burden associated with housing for our most vulnerable patients and families.

Help our guests by visiting with them in common areas, assisting staff with changing beds, cleaning, basic household duties, etc. to keep the house looking fresh, organized, well-stocked and homelike.

You can also bring in homemade food for guests (you can make at home and deliver).

Monday-Friday, Varied shifts from 8:30am-6:30pm

Bring some joy to patients by providing comfort items at the bedside to enhance their hospital stay. A variety of items are provided at no charge to patients such as puzzle books, playing cards, coloring books, etc.
