Meals on Wheels is a program for adults 60 and older who are considered homebound and either do not have access to healthy food or are unable to make a healthy meal for themselves.

The ADRC-CW delivers hot meals Monday-Friday, starting between 9:45 am- 10:15 am. Most routes take an hour to an hour and a half. Help us make sure older adults get a hot meal delivered! Become a Meals on Wheels Volunteer Driver. 

Volunteers can help deliver meals once a week, or even just once a month. Helping an hour a month has a tremendous impact! 

Groups are encouraged to apply! Grab some friends or a group from the office or church. Pick a day and route to "adopt" and rotate the driver among your group. This is a great way to make a difference in the community and share the time commitment with a group.

We have volunteers that are just on a "substitute" status and are willing to help out if someone is sick or is out on vacation.

Are you gone for the winter or only available during certain times of the year? Connect with us! We have a variety of schedules and we want to work to make your available time work so you can get involved.

Application and background checks are required. Training is provided. A reliable vehicle & clean driving record are also required.

Meals on Wheels is a program for homebound, older adults (age 60+) for someone to check in while delivering a hot, nutritious meal. 

Volunteers are needed to package up the food to get everything ready to go for the  Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers to get on the road and deliver the meals. Volunteer with a child, grandchild, friend, or spouse!

Food arrives cooked and ready to package. Volunteers help with portioning and packaging cold and hot foods. Other tasks include cleaning and sanitizing the packaging area before and after the food is packaged. 

Meals on Wheels are packaged Monday-Friday at our ADRC-CW Kitchen, 2700 Stewart Avenue. Volunteers arrive about 8:00am to get everything packaged up and ready to go by 9:30am-10:00am.

We are bringing back our Vintage Game Night after a long absence but we need volunteers to help us make it a success. This a great opportunity for some young people to earn volunteer service hours whether you are in a school organization/club, community organization or Scouts. If you like games, we can use volunteers to set up and take down the games, get attendees involved, even play games with the guests. This is a fun experience. It will be the first Friday of each month from approximately 5:30-8:30 pm. No heavy lifting. Thank you for your interest.

We have a beautiful collection of historic clothing that dates back to the late 1800's. Here is how you can help. We could use some supplies for Collections.  

Polyester quilt batting (not wool or cotton, not loose fiberfill) is needed to wrap padded hangers for the clothing collection.  We could also use white or off-white sheets (cotton or cotton/polyester blend) or lengths of white or off-white woven fabric (cotton or cotton/polyester blend) - these we use to make garment bags and hanger covers.

Partnered with the Marathon County Park Department, the Marathon County Historical Society's Little Red Schoolhouse provides 4th grade students county-wide the unique opportunity of experiencing a day in a 1900's one room schoolhouse.

We are looking for individuals to work with our current teachers, and to fill positions should they become available. Dress in period costume and take students back in time with our curriculum that includes McGuffey Readers, spelling bees, recitation and penmanship.

There are Spring and Fall sessions. Teachers generally take one or 2 days per week.

This volunteer will assist our Curator of Education prepare and present historical programs for students and the community.

If you have a love of history and a bit of creativity, this position could take you throughout Wausau and Marathon County! 

Hours and tasks will vary, but preparation is generally Tuesday-Friday afternoons. Programs and events may include hosting school groups at the Historical Society, helping with booths at events like Harvest Fest or Winterfest, etc.

We have events throughout the year and always need volunteers for multiple jobs. From poster distribution, greeters, children's crafts, refreshments, decorating and tour guides for events like our Vintage Tea, My Dolly and Me, Kid's History Day, Family Valentine Tea and Holidays at the Houses, we're sure that there is something that will interest you.Thank you for your interest and time. Our volunteers are the best asset we have.

Whatever the Community Event is, the Marathon County Historical Society is there. Our outreach to educate people on the importance of our past goes beyond our exhibits and the Yawkey House Museum. We attend many events like Harvest Fest, Winter Fest, Children's Fest, YMCA Healthy Kids Day, NTC STEM Event, Pride Fest, Dairy Breakfast, WI Valley Fair Booth, Ginseng Festival, World Culture Day and much more. What will this volunteer do? If it's a family/children event we will have a table/booth/tent set up with old-fashioned games, crafts and coloring sheets. If it's an event like the Fair, Ginseng Festival, or World Culture's Day, we'll have an historical display of some kind. This volunteer mans the table/booth and helps with the activity. We have information about the historical society and upcoming events available for attendees to take with them. It is very easy and fun interacting with the community.

Providing emotional support and comfort to patients during their hospital stay can make a significant difference in their well-being. For Catholic patients, receiving Holy Communion can offer peace and strength, especially when facing health challenges.

Judicare Legal Aid's Mediation Program is in search of dedicated volunteers who are interested in training to become mediators, working in collaboration with the Marathon County Courts.

As mediators, volunteers play a crucial role in helping local community members resolve various disputes that arise in small claims court, such as those related to housing, debt collection, lawsuits involving amounts under $10,000, and replevins. Our comprehensive training program takes place on an annual basis, and we offer a flexible schedule to accommodate your availability.

Junior Achievement has opportunities for every grade K-12 throughout the school year. Classes range from (1) half day, (1) full day, once weekly for 30 minutes for 6 weeks. The Aspirus Family House is a beautiful, modern, home-like facility that provides temporary housing for patients traveling for long-term outpatient specialty care, as well as for families coming a long distance to be near their loved one who's hospitalized. The house eases the financial burden associated with housing for our most vulnerable patients and families.

Help our guests by visiting with them in common areas, assisting staff with changing beds, cleaning, basic household duties, etc. to keep the house looking fresh, organized, well-stocked and homelike.

You can also bring in homemade food for guests (you can make at home and deliver).

We are in need of packagers to put the meals together.  Hours are 9am-11am at Aspirus Hospital Kitchen.  A one day a week commitment or a sub as needed.  Whatever works with your schedule.

The Catholic Charities Day Center accepts donations of large backpacks for homeless guests to carry their belongings in.

At Interim Hospice, patient volunteers are available to help our patients and their families by lending a hand and being a friendly face while visiting. They serve as integral members of our hospice team and work in collaboration with the other team members. In addition to helping with daily tasks, they provide vital support and companionship. School Based mentoring, involves a "Big Brother" and/or "Big Sister" volunteers providing children- "Littles"- individualized time and attention on a consistent basis, with the venue being the child's school rather than the community. Volunteers and children meet regularly during the school year- typically each week, utilizing the resources available with the school; computer labs, the library, the gym, a classroom, or the schoolyard. Whether they play board games, simply sit and talk with one another, or do a craft project, their relationship promotes a positive attitude, and academic enrichment. Volunteers can choose to work with a child in the following school districts: Abbotsford, Athens, D.C. Everest, Marathon, Merrill, Mosinee, and Wausau. Volunteers are asked to meet with their Littles once a week for 30-45 minutes at a time. 

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northcentral WI can always use COPY PAPER.  Plain white paper preferred, but will appreciate any donation. We could also always use donations of stamps for mailings, along with labels. Thanks for considering donating to help promote the work of BBBS in our area! 

Community Based mentoring, involves a "Big Brother" and/or "Big Sister" volunteers providing children- "Littles"- individualized time and attention on a regular basis, typically 2-4 times per month for an hour or two at a time. During casual weekly or bi-weekly outings, filled with conversations and shared activities, they develop a relationship that helps children manage the everyday challenges that are part of "growing up." During time spent with their Big, Littles gain new skills, explore new interests and expand their experience base beyond their family or neighborhood. Activities can include, going to parks, exploring the library, hiking Rib Mountain, taking part in local events, bowling, etc. BBBSNCW encourages taking part in low-cost/no-cost experiences. Volunteers can choose to work with a child living in the following school district areas: Abbotsford, Athens, D.C. Everest, Marathon, Merrill, Mosinee, and Wausau. 

St. Vincent de Paul is seeking facilitators for their successful anti-poverty program called Getting Ahead. This program empowers individuals in poverty to build their resources for a better life. Participants meet weekly for a workshop over the course of 18 weeks, with a graduation event upon completion. Facilitators guide the participants through this life-changing process. Ideal facilitators will display good listening skills, are reliable, will keep the group on time and on track, be unbiased, and be flexible to group needs. Facilitators are present for the entire three-hour workshop session every week (includes a meal). Two programs will be offered in July 2024: Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings. Facilitators work in pairs under the supervision of the Getting Ahead Program Director. Training is provided. St. Vincent de Paul's new Getting Ahead program is seeking pre-prepared meals for their weekly workshops held on Tuesday evenings. The Getting Ahead program aims to assist individuals experiencing poverty build their resources towards self-sufficiency. Individuals, organizations, churches, and other groups can sponsor a meal for the Getting Ahead program by bringing a pre-prepared cold or hot meal (home-cooked or store/restaurant bought) to the workshop location at 5:00PM on Tuesday nights, or donate a gift card for a restaurant or grocery store. United Way of Marathon County's Community Closet provides free clothing for people of all ages for all occasions.

Guest experience volunteers are needed to help in the Community Closet during shopping hours, to help guests complete registration, provide referrals to other agencies, and assist guests with shopping as needed. Volunteers will be supported by program staff. This role is a great fit for volunteers who love meeting people and helping provide for their basic needs!

Volunteers will go through simple training before signing up for shifts. Background checks will be required for regular ongoing volunteers.

When?

Mondays – 2:45pm to 5:15pm

Tuesdays – 2:45pm to 5:15pm

Thursdays – 8:45am to 12:15pm

Volunteers are needed at Marshfield Medical Center - Weston! A gratifying morning or afternoon shift in our Surgical Waiting Area may be the perfect fit for you. Assist patients who are checking in and will be having surgery and gather contact details for loved ones. Guide family members back to patients in the bay areas. Serve as a liaison between surgical services staff and family members to provide important updates. Our normal shifts are 5am-9am , 9am-1pm and 1pm-5pm Monday through Friday.  (We are happy to make changes to this to accommodate your schedule.)

backpack and common school supplies for the upcoming school year through the Workplace
Volunteer Council’s (WVC) signature project – Fill A Backpack Fill A Need (FABFAN). To be
*eligible to take part in FABFAN, students must be entering 4K through 8th grade and qualify
for free or reduced lunch at school.

How can you help?
 Donate supplies. Donations of backpacks and school supplies can be delivered to any of
FABFAN’s Public Collection Sites: AbbyBank, Cloverbelt Credit Union, Health in Motion,

Enjoy the experience volunteering by yourself, with a friend or in a group setting.  We can always use assistance getting old merchandise off of our floor and help continue to make room for new merchandise.

We are seeking a volunteer to help us with our grant and maybe teach us a thing or two along the way. This is a completely remote opportunity and can be done on your own time.

We invite you to become a Dog Advocate and start dedicating your time and talents to the critters! Dog advocates help to socialize, walk, and train our dogs, as well as provide enrichment, take animals on outings and to events, and assist in kennel maintenance. Volunteers must be over 18 and be prepared for a 4 hour monthly time commitment. Children must be 8+ to participate with a dog advocate (One child per one volunteer 18+).
