Volunteer: Deliver Meals on Wheels to Older Adults!Meals on Wheels is a program for adults 60 and older who are considered homebound and either do not have access to healthy food or are unable to make a healthy meal for themselves. The ADRC-CW delivers hot meals Monday-Friday, starting between 9:45 am- 10:15 am. Most routes take an hour to an hour and a half. Help us make sure older adults get a hot meal delivered! Become a Meals on Wheels Volunteer Driver. Volunteers can help deliver meals once a week, or even just once a month. Helping an hour a month has a tremendous impact! Groups are encouraged to apply! Grab some friends or a group from the office or church. Pick a day and route to "adopt" and rotate the driver among your group. This is a great way to make a difference in the community and share the time commitment with a group. We have volunteers that are just on a "substitute" status and are willing to help out if someone is sick or is out on vacation. Are you gone for the winter or only available during certain times of the year? Connect with us! We have a variety of schedules and we want to work to make your available time work so you can get involved. Application and background checks are required. Training is provided. A reliable vehicle & clean driving record are also required. Volunteer: Aspirus Seasons of Life Hospice HouseAspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services engage volunteers to provide a comforting presence, and emotional/social support to our patients and their families in our Hospice Program. Volunteers are an extremely valuable member of the Hospice team as they form close professional relationships with our patients and their families. As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to help patients in their end-of-life journey live in dignity and peace while helping to offer a pain-free and comfortable environment. No matter how you help, it’s impossible to overstate how much this support means to the patient and family and to the Hospice team working with them. Seasons of Life Hospice House volunteers, like home care volunteers, serve only patients and their family members at the Aspirus Hospice House while working along side of our Hospice team. Examples of activities during this visits include: reading aloud, conversation, reminiscing, playing cards or board games, helping with light housekeeping, going for walks/wheelchair rides, and so much more! Hospice House volunteers do not provide direct patient care or transport patients. Interested candidates may apply directly by visiting our website, www.aspirus.org/volunteers, by selecting the Aspirus Wausau Hospital and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services link and completing an online application. To request an application by mail, please call 715-847-2424. Please consider joining us...volunteers are the heart of Hospice!
