Who We Are
COVID-19 Volunteer Changes and Program Updates:
Dear Blessings in a Backpack Volunteers, Thank you for all you do for Blessings! We have heard from many of you who would like to be able to help out in any way possible. We appreciate every single offer because it reflects the generosity and caring spirit of our community. At this time, all packing events by our volunteers has been suspended indefinitely. Our partner school districts are preparing daily grab and go bags for ALL students with breakfast and lunch items and are distributing Blessings bags as a supplement to any family who requests them. Each school district has established pick up sites for food distribution. Go to the school district web pages to find out more information. We know this is a challenging time for many people in our community. Please know that Blessings in a Backpack is continuing to play a very critical role in serving kids and families during this health crisis by providing food to the school districts and utilizing their channels for packing and distribution. If you have the ability to donate, we are accepting monetary donations at this time.

Thank you!
Blessings in a Backpack provides food over the weekend for school children in the DC Everest and Wausau districts who may otherwise face hunger at home.
What We Do
Blessings in a Backpack is a program that provides food over the weekend to community children who are most at risk of facing hunger at home. While it may not be obvious, there are many DC Everest and Wausau area children that struggle with access to food when school is not in session and our goal is to bridge that food gap. Students receive a backpack each Friday with easy to prepare meals and snacks.
This school year, we will be partnering with 14 schools and serving approximately 1,000 children from the DC Everest and Wausau School Districts.
