Who We Are
It is the mission of our agency to make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families we serve. In striving to achieve our mission, we will: Provide a safe, secure, and nurturing learning environment; Create partnerships with family and community resource agencies; and recruit, develop, and maintain a staff that is dedicated to promoting excellence.
What We Do
Marathon County Child Development Agency's Head Start is a program committed to providing comprehensive preschool and family services for a diverse population in Marathon County. We continually strive to improve our programming and delivery of these services to ensure a dynamic approach to meeting the needs of our families. Through our dedication, a safe and caring environment is provided where trust and honesty are valued. Through our efforts we hope to make a lifelong difference in the lives of the children and families we serve. The Head Start program is based on the premise that all children share certain needs, and that children of low income families, in particular, can benefit from a comprehensive developmental program to meet those needs. The Head Start program is a free, federally funded preschool program for children from low-income families, foster homes, or whose families receive SSI income. Children who have a diagnosed disability may also qualify for services. The agency operates three Head Start centers (Wausau, Weston, and Mosinee) serving 187 three and four year old children each year.
