School Based mentoring, involves a "Big Brother" and/or "Big Sister" volunteers providing children- "Littles"- individualized time and attention on a consistent basis, with the venue being the child's school rather than the community. Volunteers and children meet regularly during the school year- typically each week, utilizing the resources available with the school; computer labs, the library, the gym, a classroom, or the schoolyard. Whether they play board games, simply sit and talk with one another, or do a craft project, their relationship promotes a positive attitude, and academic enrichment. Volunteers can choose to work with a child in the following school districts: Abbotsford, Athens, D.C. Everest, Marathon, Merrill, Mosinee, and Wausau. Volunteers are asked to meet with their Littles once a week for 30-45 minutes at a time.
